The Central Financial institution of Nigeria (CBN) is trying to develop a brand new system for its digital foreign money, the eNaira, and is in early-stage talks with New York-based blockchain agency R3, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing folks accustomed to the matter.
The CBN desires to “develop its personal software program for the digital foreign money in order that it could maintain full management of the hassle,” based on Bloomberg.
Nigeria was the primary African nation to issued a digital model of its nationwide foreign money in October 2021. Almost a 12 months later, the central financial institution introduced the eNaira had been used for round $10 million value of transactions.
